New Maruti Baleno starts at Rs 6.09 lakh: down payment and EMI explained

Maruti Suzuki has launched an updated version of its best-selling Baleno hatchback, with changes to design, features and safety. The top variant now gets premium features such as ADAS and ventilated seats, which could make the new Baleno a strong option for buyers in this segment.

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has an ex-showroom price starting at Rs 6,09,990. The top-spec Alpha AMT variant is priced up to Rs 9.17 lakh ex-showroom. In Delhi, a buyer of the base variant would need to pay around Rs 46,693 in RTO charges and Rs 35,201 in insurance, taking the on-road price of the base Baleno to around Rs 6,91,794.

On a down payment of Rs 1 lakh, a buyer would need to take a car loan for the remaining Rs 5,91,794. At an interest rate of 10 percent over five years, the EMI would work out to around Rs 12,574 a month. Over 60 months, the total EMI payout would come to around Rs 7,54,432. Including the down payment, the total cost of the car with interest would reach around Rs 8,54,432.

On design, the new Baleno gets major changes to its front look, including a larger NEXWave grille, an updated bumper, chrome fender garnish and LED fog lamps, though the side and rear profile remain largely unchanged. The interior gets a black and blue dual-tone theme, and ventilated front seats are a notable feature in this segment. The car gets a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, along with a Clarion sound system, a wireless charger with cooling, a head-up display and a colour MID. The new Baleno still does not get a sunroof.

Other features include automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, Suzuki Connect, and a 360-degree camera on the top variant. On safety, all variants get 6 airbags, ABS and EBD, ESP and hill hold assist. The top Alpha(O) variant also gets Level 2 ADAS, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Emergency Braking. TPMS is also available.

On the engine front, the new Baleno gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine producing 83 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque, with a choice of 5-speed manual or AMT transmission. A CNG variant is also available, producing 70 PS and 102 Nm. The petrol manual variant returns a mileage of 23.80 kmpl, the AMT variant 24.77 kmpl, and the CNG variant 33.61 km/kg.

The new Baleno combines modern features, ADAS, ventilated seats and good mileage, with a starting price of Rs 6.09 lakh that could draw buyers to the hatchback.
