Mohammed Siraj named Hyderabad's new Ranji Trophy captain ahead of Afghanistan series

However, Siraj will not be part of the T20I series.

The Hyderabad Cricket Association's senior selection committee has appointed Chama Milind as vice-captain alongside Siraj. In the previous Ranji Trophy season, Siraj had captained Hyderabad in two matches, but the team could not register a win against either Mumbai or Chhattisgarh. This is a big opportunity for Siraj, who is seen as an all-round talent, and it remains to be seen how he handles the responsibility of captaincy.

In the last Ranji Trophy season, Mohammed Siraj led Hyderabad for the first time, taking over the captaincy from Rahul Singh. However, Hyderabad could not win either of the two matches. In the match played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Mumbai defeated Hyderabad by 9 wickets. Hyderabad then took on Chhattisgarh at the Gymkhana Ground. On the final day of the match, Amandeep Khare scored an unbeaten century to help Chhattisgarh fight back, and the match eventually ended in a draw.

For the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, Hyderabad has been placed in Elite Group B. The group includes Hyderabad along with Saurashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam and Tripura.

In a press release, the Hyderabad Cricket Association said, "In the absence of Mohammed Siraj, Chama Milind will lead the team."
