Twelve students of S.R. Convent School in Mangrulpir have qualified for the district-level round of the chess and yogasana events held under the school sports competition 2026-27. Students across different age groups secured their spots with strong performances.

In the under-17 chess event, Purva Pradeep Gavarguru, Navya Ravindra Surve, Jagruti Gulab Jadhav, Ayush Pradeep Gavarguru and Parth Chandu Dhengale were selected for the district-level competition. In the under-14 chess event, Trisha Deepak Jaybhaye and Mayuri Bharat Kale also made the cut for the district round.

In the under-14 yogasana event, Arnav Himmat Panbhare, Rohan Satish Khade, Sai Suresh Gawande, Shreya Deepak Musale and Manaswi Yadav Divare were selected for the district-level competition.

The students performed well on the strength of consistent practice, concentration, discipline, confidence and skill. In chess, they showed their ability through moves, patience and sound decision-making, while in yogasana they demonstrated balance, flexibility, precision and confidence. The guidance of the school's teachers, daily practice and encouragement from parents played a key role in the students' success.

The institution's director, Uddhav Raut, and the school's headmistress, Shital Raut, praised all the students and wished them well for the upcoming competition.

The selection is a matter of pride for the students and the school, and it is hoped they will sustain this success at the district-level competition as well. Sports like chess and yogasana help build mental concentration, physical fitness, discipline and positive thinking among students.
