India thrash Pakistan 19-0 in Women's Junior Asia Cup hockey, enter semifinals

India thrashed Pakistan 19-0 in the first quarterfinal of the Women's Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament, being held in Mokai, China. The win is the biggest margin of victory by any team in the history of the tournament. India have advanced to the semifinals, where they will face South Korea or Malaysia.

India began scoring in the seventh minute of the match. Pooja Sahu scored the team's first goal off a penalty corner. Five goals were scored in the first quarter, while India added just one in the second. Pakistan put up slightly better resistance in the third quarter, but India still scored three more goals. The final quarter saw the most goals, six in all, taking India's tally for the match to 19.

Thirteen Indian players scored in the match. Pooja Malik completed a hat-trick with goals in the 27th, 49th and 51st minutes. Roshni, Sanika Chandrakant Mane, Madhu Sidar and Supriya scored two goals each. Besides Pooja Sahu, Tanushree Dinesh Kadu, Sukhveer Kaur, Geeta Yadav, Tanuja Toppo, Purnima Yadav, Krishna Sharma and Binima Dhan scored one goal each.

India are the defending champions and have not lost a single match at the Women's Junior Hockey Asia Cup 2026 so far. In the elite pool round, India's match against China ended goalless, while the team recorded one-sided wins against Japan, South Korea and Malaysia. The Women's Junior Asia Cup began in 1992, and China and South Korea dominated the tournament until 2015. India have won the title in the last two editions, beating South Korea and China respectively.
