Maharashtra braces for fresh rain spell, 13 districts under heavy rain alert
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for districts across Konkan, north Maharashtra, western Maharashtra and Marathwada for the next three to four days
Maharashtra's weather is set for another major shift. A changed weather system over the Bay of Bengal is affecting different parts of the state, with several districts expected to see spells of rain, thunder and strong winds. The weather department has issued a yellow alert today, September 19, for some districts of Konkan, north Maharashtra, western Maharashtra and Marathwada. According to the department, the weather will remain unsettled across the state for the next three to four days.
The weather has also turned in the Konkan region. Winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are expected in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts. Some places may see light to moderate rain with thunder, while others could see heavy rain. Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Sindhudurg districts are also likely to see light to moderate rain and thundershowers. The yellow alert for rain is expected to continue in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg tomorrow as well.
In north Maharashtra, a yellow alert for rain has been issued for some areas in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik districts. Winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour may blow in this region, along with the possibility of heavy rain with thunder. The weather is expected to remain unsettled in north Maharashtra for the next one to two days.
In western Maharashtra, a yellow alert has been issued for Ahilyanagar, Pune, the Pune ghat areas, Satara and the Satara ghat areas. Light to moderate rain with thunder is expected here, with heavy rain in some places. Winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour may blow. The weather is expected to remain unsettled in the Pune and Satara areas for the next two to three days. During this period, Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur may also see light showers with thunder.
In Marathwada, a yellow alert has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Hingoli, Nanded and Latur districts. Thunder with winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour is expected here. Some places may see light to moderate rain, while others could see heavy rain. Rain showers are expected to continue in Marathwada over the coming days.
Meanwhile, no major rain alert has been issued for most districts of Vidarbha for now. Several areas are likely to see hot, humid and cloudy weather. There is a possibility of a change in weather, but no major rain warning has been issued for Vidarbha at present.
Overall, conditions are once again favourable for rain in Maharashtra, with a yellow alert issued for several districts across four divisions. Rain intensity may increase in some areas over the next three to four days, while other places could see strong winds with thunder. People are advised to take precautions keeping their local weather forecast in mind.

On September 21, the maximum is expected at 33 and minimum 26 degrees; on September 22, maximum 32 and minimum 26 degrees; on September 23, maximum 32 and minimum 26 degrees; on September 24, maximum 33 and minimum 26 degrees; on September 25, maximum 33 and minimum 27 degrees; on September 26, maximum 32 and minimum 25 degrees; on September 27, maximum 33 and minimum 27 degrees; on September 28, maximum 33 and minimum 26 degrees; and on September 29, maximum 32 and minimum 26 degrees Celsius.
