Ramtek girl, 2, needs Rs 10 crore injection; minister seeks CM Fadnavis's help

Srinika Rohit Makde, a nearly three-year-old girl from Ramtek, is battling a rare and serious illness. Doctors say she has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type-2, a condition in which the body's muscles gradually weaken and timely treatment is critical.

Treatment requires a special injection made by a company in the United States. The family has been told the injection costs around Rs 10 crore, a sum that is nearly impossible for an ordinary family to raise, which is why the matter has now reached the government.

State minister Ashish Jaiswal has personally taken up the case. He met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde separately and briefed both leaders in detail about Srinika's illness, the kind of treatment she needs and its likely cost.

The central issue in these meetings was how the government could provide financial assistance for the child's treatment. Since the injection alone is estimated to cost around Rs 10 crore, Jaiswal sought government-level support from both leaders.

According to the information available, CM Fadnavis and Deputy CM Shinde have taken Srinika's case seriously and assured that whatever steps are necessary for her treatment will be taken. However, it is not yet clear in what form or by when the assistance will arrive.

Srinika's family and local residents of Ramtek are now watching for the government's next move. If financial help comes through at the state level, it could ease the path to her expensive treatment. Until then, the family faces the challenge of raising such a large sum.
