Latur stabbing: Parli youth killed, corporator among three absconding

Crime incidents are rising across the state and the country, creating an atmosphere of fear among people. Amid this, an argument during dinner at a hotel in the Usmanpura/Islampura area of Latur city on Wednesday night turned deadly. A young man was stabbed in the chest with a sharp weapon on the road outside the hotel, leading to his death. The deceased has been identified as Baba Ali Shaikh, 38, a resident of Parli. The incident has caused shock in both Latur and Parli.

According to police, Baba Ali Shaikh had come to Latur along with Parli corporator Khaled Shaikh, Alfaz Pathan and Umer. On the night of Wednesday, September 16, around 11:15 pm, the four were having dinner at Hotel Umera on Khorigalli Road near Basaveshwar College when a heated argument broke out between them. As the quarrel escalated, the four stepped outside onto the road, where, according to initial information, Baba Ali Shaikh was stabbed in the chest with a sharp knife. He died from the severe injury.

Police investigation has revealed that Baba Ali Shaikh and the suspects had an old dispute going back several years. Police are also examining whether there was any prior planning behind bringing him from Parli to Latur, though this can be confirmed only once the investigation is complete.

Parli corporator Khaled Shaikh, along with Alfaz Pathan and Umer, are suspected in the case. All three fled after the incident and police are searching for them. Police are investigating the real motive behind the killing, whether it was premeditated, and whether anyone else was involved. The murder, which took place in the heart of Latur city, has once again raised questions about public safety at night.
