IPL 2027 mini-auction likely in India in first week of December

The BCCI has begun preparations for the auction ahead of the IPL 2027 season. This auction is held a few months before every IPL season begins, with teams trying to strengthen their squads by buying new players. This will be the last mini-auction of the three-year cycle running from 2025 to 2027. A few days ago it was reported that the auction would be held in December, and now the exact dates have emerged.

According to reports, the IPL 2027 mini-auction could be held in the second week of December. It will be the last mini-auction before the mega auction due in 2028. The player auction will be held between December 7 and 13. The IPL auction has been held abroad for the last three years, but this time it will be held in India.

A few days ago, IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal had announced that the 2027 IPL auction would be held in India. After holding the auction abroad for three consecutive years, the BCCI is now trying to bring the event back to India. The last three auctions were held in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi. Arun Dhumal said, "Every year we try to hold the auction in India, but we are unable to find a venue because of the wedding season. This time we want to hold the event in India because this is a mini-auction and we hope we will get a venue." It is also being said that to mark 20 years of the IPL, the BCCI has decided to make the tournament grander this time.

Meanwhile, an auction is also due before the Women's Premier League 2027. The WPL auction will be held on October 28. All five teams have to submit their list of retained players by September 28, after which preparations for the player auction will begin. The Women's Premier League auction will be held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Kochi. With the Women's Champions Trophy 2027 in view, the WPL will end a little earlier this time. The tournament is set to start on January 14, and the final is likely to be played on February 7.
