Heavy rain, lightning alert for Maharashtra over next three days

The monsoon has become fully active again in Maharashtra. According to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rain is likely in several parts of the state between September 13 and 15. Konkan, central Maharashtra and Marathwada are expected to see the heaviest rain, while some districts have also been warned of lightning and stormy winds.

According to the weather department, on September 13 some districts of Marathwada, north Konkan and north central Maharashtra could see heavy to very heavy rain with thunder and lightning, with wind speeds reaching 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. In view of this, the administration has appealed to people to stay alert.

Dhule, Nandurbar and the ghat areas of Nashik have been placed on orange alert due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain. A yellow alert has been issued for a total of 26 districts, including Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Satara and their ghat areas, besides Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, and in Vidarbha, Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.

For September 13, district-wise forecasts show rain in most parts of Konkan, with heavy rain, thunder and stormy winds in some places, and strong winds along the northern coastal areas. Central Maharashtra will also see rain in most places, with very heavy rain and storms possible in some areas. Marathwada is likely to see rain in most places and heavy rain with thunder in some areas. Vidarbha is expected to see rain in many places and heavy rain with lightning in some places.

On September 14, most parts of Konkan will see rain, with strong winds along the northern coast. Central Maharashtra could see rain in many places and stormy winds with thunder in some areas. Marathwada may see rain in some places and thunder in some areas. Vidarbha is expected to see rain in some places.

For September 15, most parts of Konkan are forecast to see rain, with strong winds along the northern coast. Central Maharashtra could see rain in many places, while Marathwada is likely to see rain in some places and Vidarbha in isolated areas.
