IIM extends CAT 2026 registration deadline to September 22
IIM Indore has pushed the CAT 2026 application deadline from September 15 to September 22, 5 pm.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have extended the deadline to apply for the Common Admission Test, CAT 2026. Candidates who have not yet applied can now register online until 5 pm on September 22, 2026. The earlier deadline was September 15. This year's CAT 2026 exam is being conducted by IIM Indore.
Online registration for CAT 2026 had opened at 10 am on August 3, 2026. IIM has now extended this deadline by a week to September 22. Candidates will have to complete filling the application, entering the required details and paying the exam fee within this extended window, failing which their application will not be considered.
For candidates who have still not been able to fill the CAT 2026 application, 5 pm on September 22, 2026 will be the last opportunity. According to IIM, this will be the final deadline, so candidates have been advised to submit their application from the official website as soon as possible to avoid a last-minute rush. It would be in candidates' interest to complete their application on time rather than wait for a further extension.
The CAT 2026 exam will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2026. The exam will be conducted in three sessions across around 170 cities nationwide. While filling the application, candidates will have the option to choose 5 preferred exam cities, so they should carefully select cities that are close to them or convenient.
The exam authority will try to allot one of these 5 chosen cities as the exam centre. However, if demand in a particular city is high, a nearby city may be allotted instead. Candidates should note that once the exam centre is fixed, no changes can be made to it later, so care should be taken while selecting the city.
After the registration process ends, candidates will be given a limited-time edit window to make corrections to their application. This facility will be available only to those candidates who have completed registration and paid the application fee on time. Through this edit window, candidates will only be able to change their photo, signature and the order of preference of exam cities; no other details can be changed.
Candidates have also been advised to keep visiting the official CAT website from time to time for updates on admit cards, exam centres and other information. All candidates preparing for CAT 2026 should take proper note of these dates and instructions.
