Zuno General Insurance, a digital insurance company, has launched a new add-on cover called Fuel Guard for car owners. The company says this is the first such car insurance add-on to be introduced in the industry.
The use of blended fuels is gradually increasing in India, and the company has designed this add-on to give vehicle owners an extra layer of protection against this backdrop.
As the use of blended fuel increases, vehicle technology is also changing. Fuel Guard is designed to provide additional protection to certain parts of the engine and fuel system in case of accidental or unexpected damage while using blended fuel approved by the vehicle manufacturer. The company says this will allow vehicle owners to feel more assured.
Certain conditions must be met to take this cover. It applies only to private vehicles registered on or after April 1, 2023. The vehicle manufacturer must have approved the specific blended fuel in question. In addition, the vehicle's maintenance schedule must have followed the manufacturer's guidelines, and there must be no unauthorised modification to the engine or fuel system.
The Fuel Guard cover can be chosen along with private vehicle package policies, standalone own-damage policies and bundled policies, including long-term policies of three years.
Shanai Ghosh, MD and CEO of Zuno General Insurance, said the idea for Fuel Guard came from a simple thought: as the mobility ecosystem changes, insurance protection should change with it. She said the company continuously studies how changes in mobility are shaping customer expectations and the vehicle-usage experience, and that Fuel Guard is part of an effort to turn that research into a simple, practical solution that makes insurance cover more useful in everyday life.
With the Fuel Guard cover, Zuno says it is reinforcing its customer-focused approach to motor insurance, offering solutions that go beyond conventional risks to address specific needs of vehicle ownership.
