Vastu shastra: 5 things you should never keep in your wallet
Vastu shastra says old bills, ancestors' photos and torn currency notes in your wallet can block money and cause household quarrels
Frequent quarrels at home and money that comes in but does not stay are, according to vastu shastra, signs of vastu dosha. When negative energy rises in a home and good energy falls, the balance of the house is disturbed, which is called vastu dosha. It leads to needless disputes at home and money that does not stay even after it arrives. Vastu shastra suggests several remedies for this, one of which is a small but important one: what not to keep in your wallet. Keeping certain things in a wallet is said to block the flow of money.
First, old bills. Whether it is a grocery store receipt, a petrol bill or an electricity bill, many people have the habit of stuffing all of these into their wallet. But vastu shastra says this should never be done. Keeping old bills in a wallet is said to block the path of earnings, stop money from staying in the wallet and suddenly increase expenses, leaving earnings low and expenses high. Bills should instead be kept in a box at home, not in the wallet.
Second, photographs of deceased ancestors. Many people keep a photo of their grandparents in their wallet out of fondness and memory, but vastu shastra considers this wrong. Keeping a photo of ancestors in the wallet is said to invite "pitru dosha", and once pitru dosha sets in, life's problems are said to increase and work gets stuck. The scripture says such photos should be placed in the south direction of the house, not carried in the wallet, and should be removed from the wallet at once.
Third, torn currency notes. Even if a ten-rupee note is slightly torn, or a twenty-rupee note has tape stuck on it, people still keep it in their wallet. This is considered inauspicious. Keeping a torn note in the wallet is said to displease Goddess Lakshmi, stop the flow of money and increase expenses, causing money to slip out of hand. If a torn note turns up, it should be exchanged at a bank, not kept in the wallet.
The wallet is regarded as the home of Goddess Lakshmi, so it should always be kept clean and orderly. Useless papers, bills and torn notes should be taken out of the wallet. Slowly, money will begin to stay in hand, and quarrels at home will also reduce.
