Dumper hits bike near Jalgaon's Naigaon Phata, one killed, one critical
A speeding dumper rammed a motorcycle near Naigaon Phata in Jalgaon district, killing one rider on the spot and critically injuring his friend.
A dumper truck hit a motorcycle near Naigaon Phata in Jalgaon district yesterday, killing one man on the spot and leaving his friend in critical condition in hospital. Pralhad Madhukar Hivare, 40, and Ishwar Namdeo Pawar, 38, both from Ajande village in Raver taluka, were riding back to Ajande from Malkapur on a motorcycle bearing registration number MH 19 DD 1858.
As the two reached Naigaon Phata, a speeding dumper coming from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle. The dumper, a cement concrete mixer bearing registration number MH 19 CY 4617, is reported to belong to a company called BNA. Work is currently underway on Indore-Hyderabad Highway No. 753 in the area, and the dumper was there for this work.
The impact was so severe that Pralhad Hivare died on the spot; his head was severed from his body. His friend Ishwar Pawar was seriously injured and was immediately taken to the sub-district hospital in Muktainagar, where doctors are treating him and have described his condition as worrying.
Muktainagar police reached the spot soon after being informed of the accident. Blood was spread across the road and the motorcycle was completely crushed. Given the severity of the incident, police also called in a forensic team, which collected evidence from the scene. Police are investigating whether the dumper driver was speeding or the motorcycle rider lost control. Work on registering a case over the incident was underway at Muktainagar police station late into the night.
The sudden incident has left Ajande village in mourning. Pralhad Hivare was well known in the village, and his death has caused great distress in his household. Villagers said the movement of heavy vehicles in the area has increased since work began on the highway, and accidents have also risen. Villagers complained that company vehicles are driven at high speed and that ordinary people bear the consequences, and have demanded that police pay attention to this. Police are continuing their investigation and searching for the dumper driver.
