England whitewash Pakistan 3-0 in Tests, Pakistan slip in ICC rankings

Babar Azam's Pakistan side suffered a humiliating 0-3 series defeat to England in the three-match Test series. The hosts completed a total whitewash of Pakistan, whose performance through the series was deeply disappointing. After losing at Lord's, Pakistan made seven changes to their side for the third Test, but even that could not bring them a win.

After losing three Tests in a row, Pakistan suffered another blow in the ICC Test team rankings. Following the end of the third Test between England and Pakistan, the ICC released updated rankings showing Pakistan's slide. Before the series began, Pakistan were eighth with 75 rating points; after the series, they have dropped to ninth with their points reduced to 71. Only Zimbabwe sit below Pakistan, in tenth and last place with 17 rating points. England remain fifth, but their points have improved, rising from 99 before the series to 102 now.

Among the teams above them, Australia currently lead the ICC Test rankings with 126 rating points, followed by South Africa in second with 119 and New Zealand in third with 106. India are fourth with 105 rating points. England are fifth, and Bangladesh are sixth with 78 points. Sri Lanka are seventh with 75 points and West Indies eighth with 74 points.

The third and final Test of the series between England and Pakistan was played at Edgbaston in Birmingham. England won the match by 8 wickets, sealing the series 3-0 and completing their first home whitewash of Pakistan. Chasing a target of 130, England reached it in 24.2 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets.
