Demand for flex-fuel vehicles is rising along with the growing use of ethanol-blended petrol. Two motorcycles from Hero MotoCorp, the Splendor+ E85 flex-fuel and the HF Deluxe E85 flex-fuel, have been getting a strong response from the market. Since their launch in June 2026, the two bikes have together received close to 10,000 bookings.
Hero MotoCorp launched the two models describing them as the country's first E85 flex-fuel capable motorcycles. The Splendor+ E85 is priced at Rs 82,810 ex-showroom Delhi, while the HF Deluxe E85 is priced at Rs 72,792. The company said that along with bookings, the bikes being produced are also being sold, indicating a good and positive initial customer response.
Hero MotoCorp Chief Business Officer Ashutosh Verma said the company has received more than 10,000 enquiries and bookings have also reached close to 10,000. He said the company is considering increasing production capacity for flex-fuel bikes, as this could become an important part of the business in the future.
These bikes can run on ethanol-blended petrol ranging from E20 to E85. E20 petrol is available in many places in India, but the availability of E85 fuel is still limited, currently found only at a few select petrol pumps in Delhi-NCR and elsewhere. For this technology to be adopted on a large scale, the fuel network will need to expand.
These flex-fuel models come with a new fuel pump, a secondary fuel filter and upgraded ECU calibration. According to the company, this has resulted in a 7% increase in power and a 3% increase in torque, aiming to combine an eco-friendly fuel with good performance.
