Worker dies after hand caught in crane conveyor belt at Hingna MIDC factory

A worker died in a gruesome accident on Monday morning in the Hingna MIDC area of Nagpur district. The accident took place at a factory called Nico Heavy Engineering Casting Limited, where a worker's hand got caught in the conveyor belt of a crane that carries sand and clay to a height.

The deceased worker has been identified as Rohit Ramdular Chaubey, 30, a resident of Panchsheel Nagar, Isasani, Hingna Road, Nagpur. Like every day, he had come to work at the factory's plot number 65/2 on Monday morning as well.

At the time of the accident, Rohit was working near the furnace used to melt iron, on the crane that carries sand and clay upward. During this, one of his hands suddenly got caught in the conveyor belt. The accident was so severe that his arm was severed from the shoulder.

Other workers nearby noticed the incident after some time. They immediately switched off the crane and brought Rohit down. He was then taken, with his severed arm, to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital in Digdoh. But because his condition was very critical, doctors referred him to Nagpur Medical Hospital. As soon as he reached the medical hospital, doctors declared him dead.

According to information, Rohit earlier worked as a plumber's assistant and was usually assigned work at a different location. Monday was the first time he had been sent to work at such a height. Rohit is survived by his wife and a four-month-old child.

The accident has devastated Rohit's family. Fellow workers have also expressed deep grief over the incident. Nagpur police have registered a case and begun further investigation.
