Haritalika Teej will be observed on September 14, 2026, an important Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. On this day, married women observe a fast and perform puja for the long life and lasting good fortune of their husbands, while unmarried women observe the fast to get a good and suitable life partner.

According to religious belief, Goddess Parvati performed intense penance and observed the Haritalika fast to get Lord Shiva as her husband. This is why on this day Shiva and Parvati are worshipped and prayers are offered for good fortune, happiness, prosperity and the wellbeing of the family.

On the occasion, people share greetings with each other on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. Some of the messages being shared are:

Women take part in the puja wearing green bangles and dressed up for the occasion. Alongside Haritalika Teej, the Jyeshtha Gauri festival also holds special significance, in which auspicious timings and rituals are observed over three days, from the invocation to the immersion.
