Apple launches iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max with A20 Pro chip, storage up to 2TB

Apple has launched two premium models in its iPhone 18 series worldwide at its "Surprise and Shine" event. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max both show significant hardware upgrades over last year's iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The company has focused this time on processing performance and high-speed connectivity.

Both new phones carry Apple's latest generation chip, the A20 Pro. The chip is built for high processing power, better battery efficiency and handling heavy AI-related tasks. It is expected to deliver faster speeds and a smoother experience for heavy gaming, multitasking, and photo and video editing.

Both models will run Apple's new iOS 27. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a larger 6.9-inch display. The A20 Pro processor in both is built on 2nm technology and has a 6-core CPU and 7-core GPU. The phones also come with Apple's own C2 modem for faster network connectivity.

For photography, both phones get a triple camera setup on the back, comprising a 48MP Fusion main sensor with variable aperture, a 48MP ultrawide camera and a 48MP 2x telephoto lens. The front camera is an 18MP sensor with autofocus support for selfies and video calls.

The Dynamic Island feature on the Pro series has also been upgraded, letting users track three Live Activities at once for easier real-time updates. To prevent overheating, the series adds a new vapour chamber cooling system that better manages internal heat during gaming or heavy use.

On battery, the company claims up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and up to 45 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. AirDrop data transfer speeds have also been increased.

In India, the iPhone 18 Pro is priced at Rs 1,64,900 for the 256GB variant, Rs 1,89,900 for 512GB, Rs 2,39,900 for 1TB and Rs 3,14,900 for 2TB. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced at Rs 1,79,900 for 256GB, Rs 2,04,900 for 512GB, Rs 2,54,900 for 1TB and Rs 3,29,900 for 2TB.
