Delhi: Minor girl gang-raped and killed, body dumped in field mauled by dogs
A minor girl was gang-raped and killed in Delhi, her body dumped in a field and mauled by dogs before four people, including three minors, were detained.
A disturbing case has come to light from Delhi, where a minor girl was gang-raped and murdered in the Swaroop Nagar area. Her body was dumped in a field in the Kushak Road area, where it was found on September 13 in a badly decomposed state. Police have taken four people, including three minors, into custody in the case.
Police said local residents reported a body lying in the field, after which police reached the spot. The body was in such poor condition that it was initially difficult to identify. Police also said stray dogs had badly mauled parts of the body. After investigation, it was established that the deceased was a minor girl.
Initial investigation found that the victim and the accused knew each other from before. It also emerged that she had gone with the accused in a tempo. Police said she was allegedly sexually assaulted and then stabbed to death, after which the body was dumped in the field.
With no eyewitnesses at the scene, tracking down the accused was not easy for police. The investigation team scanned footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras in the surrounding area and along nearby roads, during which a tempo was seen moving around suspiciously at the time of the incident.
Due to darkness, the vehicle's registration number was not clearly visible at first. Police therefore tracked the tempo's movements using CCTV footage from different locations. After the suspect vehicle was eventually identified, the driver was questioned and the investigation moved forward.
Based on this investigation, four people, including three minors, were taken into custody. Police identified the adult accused as Shivam alias Sudama. The identities of the other three suspects have not been disclosed as they are minors. Police have seized two knives used in the case, the clothes the accused allegedly wore at the time of the incident, and the tempo.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police said the full sequence of events, the alleged role of each suspect, and the examination of forensic and technical evidence are still under way.
