Freelander 8 deliveries begin in China from September 19
Chery Jaguar Land Rover's Freelander 8 SUV got over 5,000 firm orders within 12 hours of its China launch.
The Freelander 8, a luxury SUV from Chery Jaguar Land Rover, has been drawing plenty of attention. The SUV was launched in China on September 3, and its official deliveries are set to begin from September 19. Notably, the car received more than 5,000 firm orders within just 12 hours of launch. In China, the Freelander 8 is priced between 289,900 and 379,900 yuan.
On design, the Freelander 8 follows the company's boxy styling and draws inspiration from the Concept 97. It features rectangular headlights and a closed-off front, giving it the look of a modern electric SUV. It measures 5118 mm in length, 2050 mm in width, 1898 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3040 mm. Inside, the cabin gets a 46.3-inch panoramic display and a 15.6-inch central screen. The second row has zero-gravity seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.
On technology, the SUV features a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, and all variants get the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 intelligent driving system, which runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 chip. Another highlight is the i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, developed with Huawei, which offers 20 terrain modes along with front, centre and rear locking differentials.
On the powertrain, the Freelander 8 uses an 800V high-voltage range-extended platform. Its 60.3 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery delivers a CLTC electric range of 310 km. The company claims the battery can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 12 minutes. A 1.5-litre four-cylinder range extender combined with a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system generates 818 hp of power and 813 Nm of torque. The SUV can go from 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, combining luxury with speed and new technology.
