Chandrapur police launch preventive action against 528 people
Chandrapur police have taken preventive action against 528 people across the district under BNSS provisions since July
Chandrapur district police have launched an aggressive drive across the district to maintain law and order and crack down on people with criminal tendencies. The special preventive campaign is being carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ayush Nopani and in the presence of Additional Superintendent of Police Ishwar Katkade. Under Sections 126 and 129 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), preventive action has so far been taken against a total of 528 people across different sub-divisions of the district, causing unease in criminal circles.
The drive began in Warora sub-division, where action was taken against 108 people on 16 July 2026, followed by preventive action against 112 suspects, again in Warora, on 27 August. The campaign was then expanded, with a record 135 people booked in a single day in Chandrapur sub-division on 3 September. This was followed by strict legal action under BNSS provisions against 74 people in Rajura sub-division on 7 September and 99 people in Chimur sub-division on 9 September. Through the drive conducted on different dates, police have so far succeeded in taking action against a total of 528 people.
Police administration has made clear that the drive will not stop here, with its next phase to be carried out in Brahmapuri and Mul sub-divisions. Over the coming two days, special preventive camps will be held in both sub-divisions to take immediate preventive action against suspects with criminal backgrounds who pose a threat to law and order. The Chandrapur police force is fully committed to creating peace, order and a sense of security among citizens, and police administration has warned that such strict legal action against criminal and unruly elements will continue in future.
