Chandrapur Lok Adalat settles 1,139 cases, awards Rs 10.38 crore in compensation

A National Lok Adalat was held on a large scale at the Chandrapur District and Sessions Court, under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge Abhay Lahoti.
The Lok Adalat successfully settled a total of 1,139 pending and pre-litigation cases. In 84 cases related to motor accident compensation, Rs 10.38 crore was awarded, providing major financial relief to several affected parties.
On the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, Mumbai, the National Lok Adalat was held on September 12, 2026 at the Chandrapur District Court as well as all taluka courts in the district, under the leadership of Abhay Lahoti, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority.
A total of 10,046 pending court cases and 10,344 pre-litigation cases were placed before this National Lok Adalat for settlement. Of these, 1,027 pending court cases and 112 pre-litigation cases, a total of 1,139 cases, were successfully resolved.
The Lok Adalat settled 84 motor accident compensation cases, awarding a total of Rs 10,38,09,670 in compensation. In addition, Rs 86,31,205 was recovered in pre-litigation cases. Among cheque bounce cases, 34 were settled through mutual agreement.
The National Lok Adalat is proving to be an effective platform for resolving disputes through mutual consent and compromise between parties. It helps save the time and money of litigants while also speeding up the disposal of pending cases.
