The number of electric scooter buyers in the country is steadily rising, and customers are now placing as much importance on comfort, storage, technology and safety as they do on range. Keeping this in mind, BeGo has launched its new electric scooter, the C12 MaxR, in the market. It has an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 1.46 lakh, at which the company is positioning it as a premium family scooter.
On range, the scooter gets a 3.8 kWh LFP battery. The company claims it can go up to 178 km on a full charge. The battery powers a 4.2 kW PMSM motor. It offers three riding modes: Eco, Ride and Sport. The battery charges to 80 percent in about 3 hours 50 minutes, while a full charge takes around 5 hours 15 minutes.
For everyday use, the scooter's biggest highlight is its 38-litre under-seat storage, which can comfortably fit two helmets. It also gets a flat floorboard, bottle holders, an umbrella holder and a lockable glovebox, which cuts down on storage worries during family shopping trips, the office commute or daily travel.
On technology, the scooter has a 5-inch TFT display offering turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts, distance-to-empty and customisable themes, along with Bluetooth connectivity and wireless charging. On safety, it includes features such as fall sensing, anti-theft technology and motor cut-off on the stand.
In terms of looks, full-LED lighting and alloy wheels give the scooter a modern appearance. The suspension setup uses hydraulic telescopic suspension at the front and 5-step adjustable Nitrox gas-charged suspension at the rear, which keeps the ride comfortable on poor roads and with different loads.
The braking system features disc brakes on both wheels, along with 12-inch tubeless tyres and 160 mm of ground clearance, making it easier to ride on potholes, speed breakers and varied city roads. Overall, given the range, large storage, smart technology and comfortable setup, the price of Rs 1.46 lakh could seem reasonable to many buyers.
