Hyundai finalises Bayon as name for new SUV coming to India

Hyundai Motor India is set to add another new model to its SUV range. The company has officially finalised the name of its upcoming SUV for India as the Hyundai Bayon. More details about the SUV will be revealed in the coming days, and customers looking for a new option in Hyundai's SUV lineup in the Indian market are now watching this model closely.

There is a specific reason behind the name Bayon. According to Hyundai, the name is taken from the city of Bayonne in the Basque region of France. The city's distinct identity and dynamic character have been linked to the personality of the upcoming SUV. The company has presented this SUV as an "intelligent SUV" and indicated that technology will be a key part of the vehicle's experience, though it has not yet revealed which technology features it will get.

The Hyundai Bayon will not replace any existing model for now, and is likely to come in as a new option in the company's SUV lineup instead. The company has not yet finalised its positioning, but it is believed the model could be placed above the Venue and below the Creta. During testing, the SUV has been seen under the codename BC4i, and its length could be around 4.18 metres. Spy images have shown a boxy design, striking LED lighting and DRLs.

There is also curiosity around the engine and features. The upcoming Hyundai Bayon is expected to get 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine options. The cabin may feature a dual curved screen setup similar to the Venue. A 360-degree camera and modern connected features are also expected.
