BGauss, a company building its presence in the electric vehicle space, has launched a new scooter called the C12 MaxR. The company says it has tried to combine everyday-usable features with strong performance in the scooter, which offers a range of 178km on a single charge, a top speed of 75kmph, and enough under-seat storage to fit two helmets.

On the battery front, the scooter comes with a 3.8kWh LFP battery in an aluminium casing, carrying an IP67 rating. The battery management system includes as many as 110 safety features to keep the battery secure. According to the IDC test cycle, the scooter can run up to 178km on a full charge, though the actual range may vary depending on road conditions and the load on the vehicle.

For power, the scooter uses a HyperZen in-wheel hyperdrive motor that generates a peak power of 4.2kW, or 5.63hp. This allows the scooter to exceed a speed of 75kmph. It offers three riding modes, Eco, Ride and Sport, along with a reverse mode, cruise control and a regenerative braking system.

The scooter is also quite practical in terms of storage. Two helmets fit easily in the boot space under the seat. It also has a lockable compartment, space for a mobile phone and a bottle, a separate space for clothes, and wireless charging. A large floorboard allows medium-sized luggage to be carried easily.

On technology, the scooter has a 5-inch TFT display that offers turn-by-turn navigation, call notifications, ride and charge statistics, user profiles and document storage. It also comes with features such as Distance-to-Empty, FallSense, stand-based motor cut-off, service reminders and display themes. Connected features include parental lock, SecureLock, firmware updates, vehicle health check, SOS and DigiLocker connectivity.

On hardware, the scooter gets 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. There is a 220mm disc brake at the front and a CBS system at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by a hydraulic telescopic fork at the front and a 5-step adjustable nitrox gas-emulsion unit at the rear. The scooter has a ground clearance of 160mm and a standard payload capacity of 150kg.

The scooter is available in Sparkling Wine with Champagne Gold, Terra Green with Champagne Gold, Pearl White and Satin Black colour options. According to information on the BGauss official website, the listed price of the scooter, including GST and charger, is Rs 1.60 lakh, while the effective ex-showroom price after the PM E-Drive scheme benefit comes down to Rs 1.55 lakh. The final on-road price may vary by state and city.
