A month-long "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan" will be held across the country to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. The announcement was made by Union Minister Amit Shah while speaking to journalists in Mumbai. Shah said the campaign would take up various development works, while also informing the public about the work done so far by the NDA government at the Centre.

At the same press conference, Shah made a significant statement on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said that in the 21 states where the NDA is in government, steps would be taken toward implementing the UCC. According to Shah, a decision on the UCC would be taken by 2029.

Under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a 12-point programme will be run across the country. It includes activities such as blood donation, "Aabhar", "Namo Seva", music and theatre performances, and Anganwadi services. In addition, a "Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra" will be taken out, along with journeys from Vadnagar to Varanasi and from Varanasi to Vadnagar.

A "Seva Setu Abhiyan" will be run to ensure government schemes reach the last person in line. Shah said special emphasis would be placed on delivering government schemes at the block and tehsil level.

Shah also referred to decisions taken and work done during the Modi government's tenure, specifically mentioning the abolition of Article 370, the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and Chandrayaan-3. He also said the country's railway system had been modernised on a large scale.

Shah also raised the issue of infiltrators in the country, assuring that every single infiltrator would be driven out.

Shah's remarks on the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and the UCC, announced on Modi's birthday, are likely to intensify discussion in political circles.
