Chery iCAUR 03 electric SUV with 418 km range spotted in India
The Chinese automaker's 5-seat electric SUV was seen uncovered on a truck in India, fuelling talk of a launch to rival the Creta Electric and Harrier EV

New companies and models are entering India's electric car market at a fast pace. Chinese carmaker Chery is set to be the latest name added to that list. The company's 5-seat electric SUV, the iCAUR 03, has recently been spotted in India. Notably, unlike test vehicles that are usually covered, this car was not covered at all. It was being transported on a truck, where people spotted it.
This has fuelled speculation that the Chery iCAUR 03 could soon launch in the Indian market. It is being said that the SUV may launch in India under the JSW Motors brand. If the car does come to India, it will compete directly with electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Harrier EV.
In terms of design, the iCAUR 03 has a boxy, muscular look. The model spotted in India featured a black front bumper, flush door handles, dual-tone alloy wheels and LED headlights. The electric SUV measures 4,406 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,715 mm in height, with a 2,715 mm wheelbase. Its ground clearance is 195 mm, which should help it on poor and uneven roads. Chery has also filed a patent for the iCAUR 03 in India. The patented version shows a tougher bumper and more body cladding compared to the car spotted on the road.
The iCAUR 03 sold in China comes with a 69.8 kWh LFP battery pack. It has a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive (AWD). This setup produces 279 hp and 385 Nm of torque. The electric SUV also offers a strong range, capable of covering up to 418 km on a single charge as per the NEDC cycle. Its battery supports 80 kW DC fast charging.
Inside, the iCAUR 03 gets a modern, premium cabin with a large 15.6-inch infotainment display and a 9.2-inch digital driver display. The SUV is also well equipped, featuring powered and ventilated front and rear seats, Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera for safety.
Alongside the iCAUR 03, other Chery models are also reportedly being tested in India, including the Jetour T2, Jaecoo J5 and iCar V23. Of these, the Jetour T2 could be the first to launch in the Indian market. If launched, the iCAUR 03 would compete directly with the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Harrier EV in the mid-size electric SUV segment. However, the company has not yet made any official announcement regarding the launch date, price or specifications for India.
