Nagpur man held for running sex racket alongside MD drug trade
Nagpur police arrested a man who ran a sex racket for six months and used it to sell the drug MD to clients, rescuing one woman.
Nagpur: A young man who was running a sex racket along with MD drug trafficking has been caught by police. A team from the SSB of Nagpur city crime branch arrested the man and rescued a young woman.
The accused is Manthan Gopal Thote (23) of Chandramani Nagar, Ajni. Manthan had been running the sex racket for about six months. He lured poor young women into his racket by promising them quick money and sent them to clients.
Many clients who sought out women were also addicted to MD, and selling MD was highly profitable. His associate Kunal Yelekar is an MD trafficker. With Kunal's help, Manthan began selling MD, supplying the drug to clients interested in the women.
The SSB got wind of this and contacted Manthan through a decoy customer. Manthan called the decoy customer to a spot near a library in Hanuman Nagar, Ajni. A team from the SSB, led by PI Darshan Patil, reached the spot. As soon as the decoy customer struck the deal, Manthan was taken into custody, and MD was also found on him.
The SSB seized MD, a mobile phone and an Activa scooter, together worth 1.18 lakh rupees. The young woman found with him is a local resident. A search is on for Manthan's associate Kunal.
Several others running sex rackets on lines similar to Manthan's are also selling MD. Police are proving weak in curbing the sale of MD.
