Piyush Goyal launches 100 facility centres, open gyms in North Mumbai on Modi's birthday

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, North Mumbai MP and Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal accelerated several service and development works in his constituency. He took part in a range of programmes covering women's empowerment, civic amenities, health, blood donation and conversations with young entrepreneurs.

Goyal visited the "Pragaticha Diya" welfare centre in Charkop and spoke with women beneficiaries there about their difficulties, experiences and expectations, and how much benefit of welfare schemes was actually reaching them.

He then visited homes of beneficiary families in the Durga Sai SRA area of Kandivali. Goyal said development work should not remain confined to paper but must reach citizens' homes directly.

An important announcement was also made for the people of North Mumbai. Around 100 facility centres will soon be set up in the area, offering toilets, clean drinking water and affordable laundry services. Settlements and communities that need these facilities the most will particularly benefit.

Goyal also announced plans to set up open gyms in North Mumbai, aimed at giving young people, senior citizens and families access to exercise facilities close to home. He also attended a blood donation camp organised on the Prime Minister's birthday, where he praised the donors and volunteers.

During the visit, he also inaugurated development works at Kalpana Chawla Chowk, Sardar Vallabhbhai Chowk and Chikuwadi Jogger's Park in Borivali, and attended a parana ceremony at Veer Savarkar Maidan.

Over the course of the day, Goyal also visited Ganpati mandaps in Borivali and Dahisar, and met startup entrepreneurs to discuss their business ideas and journeys so far. Through the day's events in North Mumbai, service, civic amenities, health and women's empowerment were the central themes.
