Maruti Suzuki has for the first time combined CNG and AMT in three of its most popular cars. The Swift, Baleno and Dzire will now be available in CNG AMT versions, giving buyers of CNG cars the option of automatic driving as well.

Earlier, the CNG variants of the Swift, Baleno and Dzire came only with manual transmission, meaning customers had to operate the clutch and gears themselves. The company has now added a 5-speed Auto Gear Shift (AMT) option to all three models.

The new CNG AMT models give the driver a two-pedal driving experience, with no need to press a clutch pedal while driving, as the AMT system handles gear changes on its own. This is expected to make driving easier, especially in city traffic jams. Drivers can also switch gears manually when needed, so the car offers both automatic convenience and manual gear control.

The Swift, Baleno and Dzire CNG AMT models all get the same 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine, which comes with technology such as Dual Variable Valve Timing and Idle Start Stop. The Idle Start Stop technology switches the engine off automatically when the car stops and restarts it as soon as the car needs to move again, which is expected to have a positive effect on mileage while driving in the city.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG AMT starts at Rs 7.92 lakh. The Swift is one of the company's most popular hatchbacks and will now also offer an automatic transmission option with CNG.

The Baleno CNG AMT has a starting price of Rs 8.32 lakh. With both CNG and AMT now available on the popular premium hatchback, it is likely to draw more customer attention.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG AMT starts at Rs 8.53 lakh. The Dzire is a popular compact sedan in the Indian market, and the addition of AMT with CNG gives customers another option for daily city driving.

Customer demand has been growing for cars that keep fuel costs low while also offering automatic driving. The company's decision to combine CNG and AMT across the Swift, Baleno and Dzire is seen as significant in this context. Customers buying CNG cars will no longer be limited to manual transmission and will now have the AMT option as well.
