ACB raid at Jaripatka police station, constable caught taking Rs 20,000 bribe
Nagpur's Anti-Corruption Bureau caught a police constable red-handed inside Jaripatka police station while a second officer named in the case fled.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a major operation inside Nagpur's Jaripatka police station and caught a constable posted there taking a bribe. According to the ACB, the constable caught was Sachin Manikrao Tayde, who was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. Another policeman working at the same station, Manish Uttam Meshram, has also been named in the case and is allegedly involved.
The trap operation caused a stir in the police department. During the action, constable Sachin Tayde's health suddenly deteriorated and he had to be admitted to Mayo Hospital for treatment. The other accused, Manish Meshram, fled the spot and has not been traced so far.
According to the ACB, a non-cognizable case was already registered against a 23-year-old complainant at Jaripatka police station. It is being said that the two policemen allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant in exchange for help in this case. As the negotiation progressed, the amount was fixed at Rs 20,000. However, the complainant was not willing to pay the bribe and approached the ACB directly to file a complaint.
After receiving the complaint, the ACB first verified the matter and then planned a trap at Jaripatka police station itself. In the presence of panch witnesses, the operation was carried out in the accused's room on the first floor of the station. It is alleged that the two policemen colluded to take the Rs 20,000 bribe from the complainant, after which constable Sachin Tayde allegedly made the money disappear from the spot.
The ACB team has begun investigating the role of both policemen as part of the case. While Sachin Tayde was taken to Mayo Hospital after his health deteriorated during the operation, Manish Uttam Meshram managed to flee. A case has now been registered against both accused at Jaripatka police station. The ACB is continuing its investigation and the search for the fugitive accused, Manish Meshram, is under way.
