Maharashtra launches Mahabhumi Stack for land records in one click: Bawankule

The state government has taken a major step to make land-related work easier and more transparent. The 'Mahabhumi Stack' system has been created to bring different services, such as land purchase and sale, 7/12 extracts, land maps and old mutation records, onto a single digital platform. Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule gave details of the new arrangement.
By linking the revenue department's various digital systems together, a single digital gateway will now be available for ten major land-related services. This means people will no longer need to go to different portals for information. Having the necessary land documents and details in one place will cut down both the time taken for transactions and paperwork.
The new system will hold more than 3.5 crore 7/12 and 8-A extracts from across the state. Along with this, around one and a half crore land maps and 40 crore old mutation records and registration documents will also be viewable in one click. This will make it easier for people to get the information they need before buying or selling land.
The system is meant to make land search reports and related details available digitally. The revenue department's move is seen as significant for promoting ease of living and ease of doing business. Farmers and landowners in particular are expected to benefit greatly from this facility.
The government has also launched an important initiative for farmers in tribal areas. Village-level forest rights committees will meet from September 17 to October 2 to settle pending forest land claims. Forest rights claims will be approved through gram sabhas.
During this drive, pending forest land claims will be heard in an effort to grant forest rights to eligible beneficiaries. The decision is therefore seen as significant for farmers and forest rights claimants in tribal areas as well.
Mahabhumi Stack is expected to make land-related information more easily accessible to people across the state, while also reducing hurdles in transactions. Having multiple services available through a single digital system will save people time and help make land transactions easier and more transparent.
