Dispute over liquor supply turf: youth dragged from home, beaten in Brahmapuri
Three men allegedly dragged an 18-year-old from his home in Brahmapuri's Sundarnagar, beat him and threatened him with a knife over liquor supply customers.
A disturbing incident has come to light in the Sundarnagar area of Brahmapuri town in Chandrapur district. In a dispute over liquor supply customers, three men allegedly dragged an 18-year-old out of his house onto the road, beat him severely and threatened to kill him with a knife. Based on the victim's complaint, a case has been registered against all three accused at Brahmapuri police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to police, Ishant Moghal Dange (18), a resident of Sundarnagar, Brahmapuri, works as a labourer. Because his father was unwell, he had earlier been delivering liquor in Gadchiroli district to support the household, working for Dadu Gharde. However, he had completely stopped this liquor supply work three months ago.
On the night of Friday, September 18, around 11 pm, Ishant was having dinner at home when Dadu Prakash Gharde (28) of Gurudev Nagar, Kashim Shaikh (27) of Gandhinagar and Saurabh Anand (22) of the Phansi Chowk area suddenly arrived at his house. The three began arguing with him, asking, "Why do you supply liquor to our customers in Gadchiroli district?"
As the argument escalated, the accused dragged Ishant out of the house onto the public road in front of it. There, they abused him and threatened him, saying, "Wherever we find you, we will stab you." Dadu Gharde then slapped Ishant hard across both cheeks.
At that moment, local residents Kundan Singh, Premkumar Singh and Prince Singh arrived and intervened, freeing Ishant from the accused. Badly shaken by the sudden attack and being unwell, Ishant could not go to the police that night. The next day, he went to Brahmapuri police station and lodged a complaint detailing the incident.
Based on Ishant Dange's complaint, Brahmapuri police have booked accused Dadu Prakash Gharde, Kashim Shaikh and Saurabh Anand under sections 296 (obscene acts and abuse), 115(2) (causing hurt), 333 (house trespass), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police havildar Purushottam Bharde is investigating the case further under the guidance of station in-charge Pramod Banbale.
