Wardha traffic police book 184 for wrong parking in special drive

Wardha traffic police have launched a special drive against drivers parking vehicles haphazardly on city roads, aiming to keep traffic flowing smoothly and curb road accidents. Vehicles found obstructing traffic were dealt with strictly, with a large number of cases registered.

The action was carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Saurabhkumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. Officers and staff from Ramnagar police station, the district traffic control branch and the city traffic branch took part in the drive.

According to police, a total of 184 cases were registered under Section 122 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, against drivers parking vehicles on public roads in this manner. A total fine of Rs 99,500 was imposed in these cases.

Police made clear that obstructing a road or traffic route while saying "my vehicle is parked for just a few minutes" is not acceptable. The road is meant for use by all citizens, and it is every driver's responsibility not to create obstructions in the traffic system.

Action was also taken against triple-riding during the drive. Police registered 24 such cases and collected fines of Rs 24,000.

In addition, a total of 477 cases were registered for violations including not carrying necessary vehicle documents, driving in the front seat, and carrying more passengers than the permitted capacity, with fines of Rs 4,37,350 imposed. Wherever necessary, vehicles obstructing traffic were also removed from the spot.

The traffic department has appealed to drivers not to park vehicles in the middle of roads, on traffic routes, or at any place that obstructs the movement of other vehicles. Police have specifically appealed to drivers to avoid unauthorised parking at junctions, turns, narrow roads, bus stops and crowded areas. It has been said that care should be taken not to cause difficulty to other vehicles and pedestrians, and that designated parking spaces should be used as far as possible.

Police warned citizens that traffic jams caused by wrongly parked vehicles can also make it difficult for ambulances, fire brigades and other emergency services to find a way through.

Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Ghule of the Wardha traffic branch appealed to drivers to follow traffic rules. He said the excuse that "my vehicle is parked for just a few minutes" cannot be grounds for obstructing traffic on the road.

The traffic department has appealed to citizens to cooperate with police and follow rules to maintain a safe and smooth traffic system.
