Maharashtra braces for rain and strong winds from September 18 to 20
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain, strong winds and lightning across parts of Maharashtra from September 18 to 20.
Monsoon conditions continue in Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department, in its updated forecast, has said different parts of the state could see rain over the next three days, from September 18 to 20. North central Maharashtra and Marathwada are particularly likely to see strong winds along with lightning.
On September 18, parts of north central Maharashtra and Marathwada could see strong winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder in some places. Some districts of Konkan and parts of central Maharashtra and Marathwada could also see light rain. According to the region-wise forecast for the day, some places in Konkan could see rain along with thunder and strong winds in isolated spots, while some areas of central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha could see rain.
On September 19, light rain is fully expected in parts of the south Konkan-Goa districts, and in some areas of north Konkan, central Maharashtra and Marathwada. Region-wise, some places in Konkan could see rain, while rain has been forecast for some areas of central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
For September 20, light rain is likely at many places in south Konkan-Goa, some areas of south central Maharashtra and Marathwada, and some places in north Konkan and north central Maharashtra. Rain is likely at many places in Konkan that day. Central Maharashtra could see rain at some places along with thunder, lightning and strong winds in isolated spots. Marathwada too could see rain at some places with thunder, lightning and strong winds in isolated spots. Some areas of Vidarbha could see rain.
Following this forecast, farmers have been urged to take necessary precautions while carrying out agricultural work. They have also been advised to take shelter in a safe place during lightning.
