No major rain alert for Maharashtra on September 17, light drizzle possible in parts
The weather department has issued no heavy rain warning for most of Maharashtra, though scattered drizzle is expected in some areas.
The break in rain during the final phase of the monsoon continues over Maharashtra. Some parts are seeing occasional drizzle, but conditions are not building up for heavy rain across the state. According to the latest update from the weather department, there is no heavy rain alert for most areas of the state on September 17. However, local drizzle and cloudy skies are expected in some places.
No specific warning has been issued for the Konkan-Goa region for September 17. Even so, thunderstorms with rain are possible in some coastal areas. Mumbai and the coastal parts of north Maharashtra may see scattered drizzle in a few places, while the coastal areas of south Maharashtra and Goa could see somewhat more rain in comparison, according to the weather department's coastal bulletin.
The weather in western Maharashtra will also appear changeable. Areas such as Pune, Ahilyanagar, Satara, Sangli and Solapur may see light drizzle depending on local conditions. However, rain is not expected across the entire region, and some places may see cloudy skies along with heat and humidity.
The wait for farmers in Marathwada does not appear to be ending yet, as the break in rain continues in many parts of the region. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, Hingoli, Latur, Nanded and Dharashiv, rain is expected only at the local level. After rain in some areas over the past few days, the break has set in again, leaving crops in need of more rain.
The weather department has also not issued any special warning for Vidarbha for September 17. As a result, the chance of heavy rain in Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Washim, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli is low. Cloudy skies with local drizzle are possible in some places.
Conditions of heavy rain are not being seen everywhere in the state right now, but local weather changes keep occurring, so the possibility of sudden drizzle in any district or area cannot be ruled out. The rain picture for the state in the coming days will depend on activity in the Bay of Bengal and other weather systems. Overall, there is no heavy rain alert for Maharashtra on September 17, though there is still scope for light drizzle in some parts.
