Nagpur : As police intensify their crackdown on drug trafficking in Nagpur, traffickers are allegedly adopting new methods to deliver narcotics. In a significant operation, Kapil Nagar Police have busted a suspected network in which two women were allegedly being used to deliver MD drugs.

The police arrested the two women while they were allegedly on their way to deliver a consignment of MD. Four accused have so far been named in the case, while the name of alleged main drug trafficker Naved Shah surfaced during the investigation. Police are now searching for him.

According to police, Kapil Nagar Police received confidential information last night that two women would arrive with an MD drug consignment on the road connecting Automotive Square and Kamgar Nagar Square.

Acting on the information, a police team laid a trap in the area and kept watch.

Shortly afterwards, police allegedly intercepted Prachi Sahare and Shraddha Fudule, who arrived on a moped. According to investigators, the women had allegedly come to deliver the MD consignment to Nandu Halgone and Chetan Dhawale.

During the search, police recovered 3 grams of MD powder, four mobile phones and two two-wheelers. The total value of the seized material has been estimated at around ₹2.48 lakh.

During questioning, the two women allegedly told police that they had been instructed by Naved Shah to deliver the MD. Police subsequently registered a case under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and initiated further investigation.

Police are now searching for Naved Shah, who has allegedly emerged as the main trafficker in the case. Investigators are also probing how many other people are involved in the network and how the alleged MD supply chain was being operated in Nagpur.

The operation highlights the changing methods allegedly being adopted by drug traffickers to evade police detection. However, the alertness of Kapil Nagar Police reportedly foiled the delivery attempt.

The investigation is now focused on tracing the alleged main trafficker and uncovering the wider network behind the drug supply.
