Nagpur: A 22-year-old unmarried woman has been booked by the Koradi Police after allegedly disposing of a miscarried fetus by throwing it out of a bathroom window at her residence in Nagpur’s Koradi area on Sunday. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to preliminary police findings, the woman, who was reportedly around three months pregnant, had gone for a morning walk with her mother before returning home. Shortly afterward, she experienced severe abdominal pain and went to the bathroom, where she allegedly suffered a miscarriage.
Police said the woman had concealed her pregnancy from her family. Fearing social stigma and the possibility of her family discovering the pregnancy following the miscarriage, she allegedly panicked and threw the fetus out of the bathroom window.
After the incident came to light, local police were informed. Beat marshals from Koradi Police Station reached the scene, conducted a preliminary inspection, and collected evidence. A case has been registered against the woman for allegedly failing to dispose of the fetus in accordance with legal procedures, and further investigation is underway.
Investigators are also examining the circumstances of the pregnancy, including the identity of the man allegedly involved and the nature of their relationship. The woman is being questioned to determine the sequence of events leading up to the miscarriage and the disposal of the fetus.
Police said medical examinations and forensic analysis will play a crucial role in establishing whether the miscarriage occurred naturally or if any other factors were involved. Officials emphasized that the exact circumstances will become clear only after the completion of the medical and legal investigation.
The Koradi Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing, with inquiries focusing on all relevant aspects of the case, including the role of the man linked to the pregnancy and the findings of the medical examination.
