Bomb Threats Sent to 12 Nagpur Schools and District Court

Nagpur : Nagpur police were placed on high alert Tuesday morning after several schools and the Nagpur District Court reportedly received bomb threats through official email accounts.

Around 12 schools across the city, along with the District Court, were allegedly sent emails warning that bombs had been planted on their premises and would explode at around 10 am. The messages triggered an immediate security response, with police teams, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the Dog Squad deployed at the affected locations.

Police Rush to Schools

The threatening emails came to light after school administrations checked their official email accounts following the opening of the schools. The managements immediately informed the police, following which teams from the respective police stations reached the campuses.

Among the institutions reportedly receiving the threats were Centre Point School’s Bhandewadi branch, a school in the Sadar area, and Kendriya Vidyalaya branches at Ajni, Katol and Air Force Nagar. The Nagpur District Court was also reportedly targeted by a similar email.

Given that multiple educational institutions and a key judicial establishment were targeted simultaneously, police treated the matter as a serious security threat.

Bomb Disposal and Dog Squads Conduct Searches

The BDDS was immediately called in to inspect the affected school premises. Teams searched classrooms, offices, entry and exit points and other areas of the campuses for any suspicious object or explosive material.

As an additional precaution, the Dog Squad was deployed around noon. Trained sniffer dogs were used to search the premises and surrounding areas.

Police officials also coordinated with school administrations while security measures were tightened around the affected locations.

Cyber Police Trace Threat Emails

The Cyber Police have launched a parallel investigation into the threatening emails.

Investigators are examining the emails’ IP addresses, technical details and other digital evidence to determine where the messages originated and identify the sender. Police are also checking whether all the institutions received the emails from the same source or whether multiple individuals were involved.

Threat Emails Make Serious Claims

The emails reportedly contained objectionable allegations concerning the schools and claimed that RSS ideology was being imposed on students. The sender allegedly cited these claims while threatening to blow up the schools.

Police have not yet established whether the threats were genuine or were sent as part of an attempt to create panic. Investigators are examining all possibilities.

Parents Concerned

News of the threats and the presence of police personnel at several school campuses caused concern among parents. Some parents reportedly rushed to the schools after learning about the incident.

Police appealed to citizens and parents not to rely on rumours and to follow official information released by the authorities.

Citywide Alert Issued

In view of the seriousness of the incident, senior police officials alerted personnel across the city through the wireless communication network. Additional security measures were put in place at sensitive locations.

Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy reportedly issued an alert to concerned officers and directed them to remain vigilant in their respective jurisdictions.

No Explosives Found So Far

Police and security teams conducted detailed searches of the affected premises. No bomb or explosive device has been confirmed so far , according to the information available.

Despite this, authorities have decided to maintain heightened security until the investigation is completed.

Investigation Underway

The simultaneous targeting of multiple schools and the District Court has raised questions over the motive and identity of the sender. Police are investigating whether the emails were part of a coordinated attempt to spread panic or whether there was a more serious motive behind them.

Cyber investigators are working to trace the source of the emails and identify the person or persons responsible.

For now, Nagpur police and other security agencies remain on alert, with the safety of students, staff and the public being treated as the top priority.
