In a relief to thousands of passengers, South Western Railway kicked off work to install platform shelter and a lift at KSR Bengaluru station.
In a relief to thousands of passengers, South Western Railway kicked off work to install platform shelter and a lift at KSR Bengaluru station.
Despite being one of the busiest railway stations in South India, KSR does not have full shelters on all its platforms. Platform no. 8, catering to long-distance trains towards North Karnataka and parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, will get a shelter soon.
SWR’s Bengaluru division expects the work to be completed in Oct. “Shelters are necessary for passengers, especially during rain,” said Bharat Kumar Jain, former member of SWR’s zonal railway users’ consultative committee.
Other than that, work has begun to install a passenger lift on platform no. 9, which will connect the platform to the foot overbridge.
On average, KSR Bengaluru handles 2 lakh passengers every day.
