Nagpur: A quiet evening walk turned into a tragedy for a family in Manewada after a five-year-old girl was fatally knocked down by a speeding car near Badrinath Society in Mahakali Nagar. The heartbreaking incident was captured on a CCTV camera.
The deceased has been identified as Kisha Gurnule.
According to police, Kisha had stepped out of her house for a walk with a neighbour after having dinner on the night of the incident. As the two were walking near the society, a car allegedly being driven at high speed by Gaurav Malviya, a resident of Manewada, approached the spot and hit the child.
The impact left Kisha critically injured. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save her life, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The CCTV footage of the incident has since surfaced, showing the car approaching the area at speed and striking the child. The footage is expected to form part of the police investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal accident.
Following a complaint lodged by Kisha’s father, the Hudkeshwar police registered a case against the car driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
The death of the little girl has plunged her family into grief. Her relatives have demanded stringent action against the driver, holding reckless and high-speed driving responsible for the tragedy.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and examining the CCTV footage and other available evidence as part of the probe.
