The AH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur successfully organised and hosted the prestigious Inter-Group Competition (IGC) 2026 at Saoner from August 4 to 13, 2026. The ten-day competition brought together top Air Wing cadets from across Maharashtra, testing their skills in discipline, shooting, aeromodelling, field activities and technical events.
Three premier units participated in the competition — No. 1 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Mumbai, No. 2 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur, and No. 3 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Pune.
Cadets competed in Drill, Health and Hygiene, Aeromodelling, .22 Rifle Shooting, Skeet Shooting and Tent Pitching, demonstrating discipline, precision, technical proficiency and competitive spirit throughout the event.
No. 2 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Nagpur emerged as the Overall Champion, securing the IGC title for the second consecutive year.
The Nagpur Group also won Gold in Drill, highlighting its strength in discipline, coordination and military bearing.
The group delivered an impressive performance across several individual events as well.
Cdt/Sgt Khushbu Sharnagat won Gold in Best Pilot (SW). Cdt Siddhi Kardbhajne and Cdt/Sgt Shreshthraj Prasad secured Gold in Health and Hygiene. Cdt Mrunali Ghagre won Silver in .22 Rifle Shooting (SW). Strong Performance in Aeromodelling
Nagpur cadets also dominated several aeromodelling categories.
Cdt Tejas Ganar and Cdt/Sgt Riya Tamgade secured Gold in Static Aeromodelling.
In Control Line, LFC Tejas Chahande and Cdt Harsh Jora won Silver, while Cdt/Cpl Priyanshu Mehta and Cdt/Cpl Atharva Chauhan secured Gold in Remote Control.
The Nagpur Group further strengthened its overall tally with Silver in Tent Pitching and Bronze in Skeet Shooting.
No. 3 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Pune secured the Overall Runner-Up Trophy.
The Pune Group put up commendable performances in Skeet Shooting, .22 Rifle Shooting (SD) and Aeromodelling – Control Line.
Meanwhile, No. 1 MAH AIR SQN NCC, Mumbai secured the Tent Pitching title. Cdt Meghanraj Chaudhari earned the distinction of Best Pilot (SD).
The successful conclusion of IGC 2026 marks another significant achievement for the Air Wing units under the Maharashtra Directorate.
The competition provided cadets with an opportunity to demonstrate the standards of discipline, operational readiness, technical proficiency and teamwork developed through rigorous NCC training.
Nagpur’s second consecutive IGC victory was described as a testament to the sustained excellence of the unit and the dedication of its cadets and training staff.
The competition also served as an important stage in the selection process for the next phase.
Following IGC 2026, selected cadets will undergo Pre-Vayu Sainik Camp (PVSC) 1 and PVSC 2. Cadets who successfully clear these stages will go on to represent the Maharashtra Directorate at the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC).
The performances at IGC 2026 have set a strong benchmark for the next stage, with selected cadets now preparing to carry forward the spirit of discipline, determination and service through the Vayu Sainik Camp selection process.
