Nagpur : To cater to the surge in passenger traffic and the increased travel demand during the upcoming Ganesh festival, Central Railway, in coordination with Konkan Railway, will operate special trains between Madgaon and Nagpur on selected dates in August and September.

According to railway officials, Train No. 01140 Madgaon–Nagpur Special will depart from Madgaon at 7.00 pm on August 18, 25 and September 1 (Tuesdays) and will arrive at Nagpur at 9.25 pm the following day (Wednesday).

The return service, Train No. 01139 Nagpur–Madgaon Special, will leave Nagpur at 11.45 pm on August 19, 26 and September 2 (Wednesdays) and will reach Madgaon at 5.30 am on Friday.

In view of the heavy rush during Ganeshotsav, Central Railway has also announced additional trips of the special service. Train No. 01140 Madgaon–Nagpur Special will run on September 8, 15 and 22, while Train No. 01139 Nagpur–Madgaon Special will operate on September 9, 16 and 23.

The special train will comprise 19 coaches, including eight sleeper class coaches, six general second-class coaches, three AC three-tier coaches, and two SLRD (Seating-cum-Luggage Rake) coaches, ensuring adequate accommodation for passengers travelling during the festive season.

En route, the train will halt at Karmali, Thivim, Sawantwadi Road, Kudal, Kankavali, Vaibhavwadi Road, Rajapur Road, Ratnagiri, Sangameshwar Road, Chiplun, Khed, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Malkapur, Akola, Badnera, Dhamangaon, Pulgaon and Wardha stations before reaching its destination.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to book their tickets in advance, as heavy demand is expected during the festive period, particularly from travellers heading to the Konkan region and Goa for Ganesh celebrations.
